Telford's new purple-top recycling bins are rolled out
The first homes in Telford have been receiving their new purple-topped bins as part of a change to the town's recycling service.
Homes will be given the grey bin with a purple top, which can be used for recycling cans, glass and plastic, with cardboard and paper still mixed together in the existing blue box or bag.
The whole town should have received a bin by the middle of May.
It is hoped that the new service, being operated by Veolia, will improve the amount of recycling and divert waste from landfill.
There will be no change to collection days, though there may be some changes to the time that collections take place and residents are being asked to put out their bins by 7am on their collection day.
Councillor Shaun Davies, Telford & Wrekin Council's Cabinet member for neighbourhood services, said: "I hope the residents of Telford & Wrekin will embrace the new recycling service."
