Man smashed over head with dumbell bar in Telford street attack
A man was left pouring with blood after an attacker smashed him repeatedly over the head with a dumbell bar in a Telford street.
Kerry Adams was left semi-conscious following the daylight attack in Church Parade, Oakengates, yesterday.
Mr Adams, 43, of Overdale, was taken to the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford where doctors treated gaping flesh wounds of the top and side of his head and he was today back at his home in Grove Road recovering.
Father-of-three Mr Adams said he was driving in his Jaguar car when he got to a junction off the parade and saw a man getting into a car opposite.
He said: "The man said something to me so I pulled up to ask what was the matter.
"The man by that time had got in his car and he pulled up alongside me and got out again.
"I was getting out of my car and expected some kind of argument but noticed he had a young child about nine months old with him in the car.
"I pointed that out to the man as I would never row in front of a young child but the next thing I knew there was a flash of a chrome dumbell bar and I was hit on the head on sent stumbling.
"He hit me twice more on the head and I staggered off. When I began to come to I went over to him and punched the window of his car but he drove off."
Mr Adams managed to stagger to his mother-in-law's home in Withington Close and an ambulance was called.
Telford police spokesman Chris Ammonds said: "A 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault after an incident in Church Parade Oakengates at 11.30am yesterday.
"He has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
"A man in his 40s was taken to hospital with cuts to hit head but having been treated his has now been discharged."
