Teenage girl fights off attempted rape
A teenage girl fought back against a stranger who sexually assaulted her as she walked home in Leominster.
Police have increased patrols in the town following the attempted rape that happened on Friday evening.
The girl left a group of friends to walk home at about 8.20pm at The Grange. As she walked along a footpath between The Priory and Paradise Court, she was stopped by a man who asked her for a light.
As she leaned in to light his cigarette he grabbed her and pushed her up against the wall where he sexually assaulted her. Despite her falling to the floor, she managed to kick him several times and ran towards Paradise Court.
The man is described as white with a tanned complexion, about 20, of average height and build, with medium-length dark brown or black hair. He had a local accent and wore a red top and dark jogging bottoms.
Detective Inspector Richard Rees, who is leading the investigation, said: "This kind of sexual assault by a stranger is very rare yet very concerning."
