£2,000 Koi Carp poisoned in Newport garden pond

Eighteen Koi Carp fish worth about £2,000 have died after a liquid was deliberately poured into a pond.

An intruder broke into a garden in Shuker Close, Newport, over the weekend and poured a substance into a pond, killing the fish.

Chris Ammonds, a spokesman for West Mercia Police, said: "Some time between 11.40am on Saturday morning and 1.30pm on Sunday an unknown individual gained access to the garden at a bungalow and poured a substance into a pond.

"It caused all the fish to die.

"The lady who lives there is extremely upset."
