Telford mobile phone robber sought after two incidents

A robbery and attempted robbery took place within a mile of each other in Telford, with the attacker targeting mobile phones.

The first incident happened on St Matthews Road in Donnington, opposite the primary school, on Sunday.

At around 9.20pm, the victim, an 18-year-old man, was walking along the path around the school when a man stepped in front of him and demanded his phone.

The victim refused to hand over his phone, pushed the unknown man in the chest and then fled the scene on foot.

The man who demanded the victim's phone is described as being white, around 5ft 11ins tall, of thin build and was wearing a black hooded top with the hood up. He also had a scarf covering his face.

A robbery then took place around 40 minutes later in Wrockwardine Wood.

At 10pm, a 19-year-old man was walking along Moss Road listening to music on headphones when an unknown man ran past him.

The man asked the victim the time, when he got his phone out to look at the time the man suddenly grabbed the phone and then punched him in the face.

The victim fell to the floor as a result of the punch and let go of his phone, the man then fled the scene with the phone in the direction of Trench.

The man who stole the victim's phone is described as being white, in his early 20s, between 5ft 10ins and 6ft tall and of medium build.

He is also described as wearing a dark hooded top with a red stripes on the arms and dark coloured jogging bottoms.

Police are looking into the possibility that the same man is involved in both offences.
