Bloomsbury Garage, on the A41 near Newport, has been open since 1948.

But the building has been up for sale for some time and a sale has been organised for Bank Holiday Monday to try and clear some of the stock.

Proprietor Steve Moreton, who has been running the business since 1990, said: "We've been slowly clearing things out. We've got a big sale on Monday to try and get the place sorted.

"We'll have mark one and mark two MX5 parts for sale, old garage equipment, car parts from the 1970s, 80s and 90s and some forecourt signs from the 80s.

"It's a bit of a mish-mash really. The stuff has to be sold and I'm negotiable on everything". Mr Moreton said that there had been some interest in the site but no deal had yet been signed.

He said MOTs and repairs would continue at Bloomsbury until a new buyer is found.

Mr Moreton said the decision to sell the business was down to family circumstances.

The sale starts at 9.30am and continues all day. There will also be a collection for Hilbrae Rescue Kennels.
