Police search for missing Wem man, 71
Police have launched a search for a 71-year-old man missing from his home in Wem.
John Philip Rogers - known as Phil - was reported missing yesterday morning after not being seen for several days.
Sergeant Ed Bates said: "It is out of character for him to disappear like this and as time goes by, we are becoming increasingly concerned.
"A search is continuing in a bid to trace him. I am appealing to him to get in touch by calling 101, or if anyone else has had recent contact or knows of his whereabouts, to also get in touch."
Sergeant Bates said Mr Rogers is known by his middle name as Phil. Concerned neighbours raised the alarm yesterday after not seeing him for a few days and curtains at his home remained closed.
"We are anxious to establish that Phil is safe and well and would welcome any information which will assist in tracing him. Contact Oswestry or Shrewsbury police stations as a matter of urgency," said Sergeant Bates.
Mr Rogers is described as white, about 5ft 6ins tall, of thin build with grey hair to the sides and balding on top. He was wearing blue jeans and a blue waterproof jacket when last seen.
