Telford schoolboy, 10, gets on his bike for charity
At just 10 years old, you wouldn't normally be thinking about fundraising for charity.
But Shropshire youngster Nathan Green has
raised hundreds of pounds for the British Red Cross by sandwiching a charity park run between bike rides.
He was up and out in Telford Town Park and had cycled one lap before the park runners had even arrived. He then joined in the throng for the full 5k before getting back on his bike for another lap.
Nathan, a pupil at St Mary's Catholic School in Madeley, Telford, came up with the idea after seeing his mother's work with the Red Cross. Mother, Kim Fawke-Williams, is a manager for the charity's support at home team in Telford.
She said she was impressed with how well her son did during the personal challenge which raised more than £300 for the British Red Cross.
Nathan, of Sheridan Way, Sutton Hill, Telford, said: "It went very well. It was a bit harder at the end but we got there and did it in one hour three minutes.
"I wanted to do it in an hour but it doesn't matter.
"I just felt like I didn't want to sit back and not get involved with fundraising."
He added: "When I told my friends at school they thought I was having them on. They were a bit shocked I was doing it but then they thought what I was doing was wonderful. I've raised £300 and some of my teachers have sponsored me."
