Emergency services - including four air ambulances and three ambulance crews - were called to the scene at around 1.30pm.

A woman in her twenties, who was sat in the back of the car, is in a critical condition after receiving serious head injuries and is being treated at Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

A six-year-old boy and a one-year-old girl, who were also in the back of the car, were seriously injured. Crews treated the two children on scene for serious head, pelvic and abdominal injuries before they were airlifted to Birmingham Children's Hospital.

A man in his sixties, who was sat in the front, suffered serious injuries to his chest and was flown by air ambulance to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

The driver of the car, a man in his thirties, was treated for serious chest injuries and the driver of the 4x4 also had injuries to his chest. They are being cared for at Hereford County Hospital.

Communications officer for West Midlands Ambulance Service, John Hawker, said: "The severity of the crash meant a high number of ambulance resources and staff were at the scene caring for patients, including four air ambulances.

"All emergency service staff worked seamlessly together to ensure all patients received the best treatment as soon as possible.

"Unfortunately, the four patient's injuries are considered extremely serious."
