John David Hadwen, of Princess Court, Shawbury, died while on holiday with wife Annette on January 28.

Mrs Hadwen told an inquest at the Guildhall in Shrewsbury she was woken by a "dull thud" at around 6am local time and found her husband in the bathroom.

She said she did not know what had caused the fall.

A post-mortem carried out in India revealed the father and grandfather had died from head injuries consistent with a fall.

Shropshire coroner John Ellery recorded a verdict of accidental death.
