Hundreds of people braved the wet weather and muddy conditions at the Berwick Road showground in Shrewsbury after organisers worked around the clock to get the venue ready in time.
But the rain has put the 2pm flyover by historic aircraft in doubt, and a number of organisations pulled out at the last minute due to the boggy conditions.
Judith Williams, a trustee of the show, praised those who turned out to support the show. She said: "There are so many brilliant organisations here today, from volunteers to scouts, and I am so grateful for everybody turning up."
