Airlift for man injured in Shropshire ladder fall trying to rescue cat

A man in his 60s was airlifted to hospital after falling from a step ladder while rescuing a cat from the roof of a caravan.

The man, who was trying to rescue the animal at a caravan site in Wentnor, near Bishop's Castle, suffered a head injury and fractures to his arm and ankle in the fall.

Claire Brown, spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said the man was placed in a neck collar and on a spinal board at the scene before being airlifted to Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further treatment.
