It will open in Newtown on a site in Llanidloes Road owned by family-owned firm Bradleys Costcutter. There is already a Costcutter convenience store and Texaco fuel station on the site.

Nick Bradley, company director at Bradleys Costcutter, said work was about to start on the new Subway restaurant and added he hoped it would open by the end of June. He said both full and part time jobs would be created.

It comes ahead of the relaunch of the town's Black Boy pub tomorrow by national chain JD Wetherspoon. The reopening of the pub, which dates back to the 17th century, will bring 50 new jobs.
