Andy Perrin had been looking forward to his birthday party at Overton Village hall, but he died just two days before it was due to take place.

Now his widow and his mother say the party will still go ahead tomorrow following his funeral service in Overton Parish Church.

They say they are determined to put on the event that he had been planning.

The popular employee at Stans Superstore in St Martins died at his home at Plas Madoc, Overton, on May 15.

His wife, Amy, and mother, Mary, say they believe Mr Perrin had a heart attack.

"He had high blood pressure but had never really been ill," his mother said. She said her son had been her baby, with two other brothers and an older sister. "He went to school in Overton and Penley and then went to work at Stans Superstore in St Martins," she said.

"The job really brought him out of himself.

"The family has decided to go ahead with his 40th birthday party after his funeral on Friday.

"He was so looking forward to it, he was such a sociable person. We will put the party on for him even though he won't be there."

Mr Perrin's wife, Amy, said his death was a massive shock.

"We were having a laugh and a joke on Wednesday night.

"He was really looking forward to his party."

Colleagues at Stans said the whole store was in shock.

Mr Andrew Faulks, a partner in the company, said: "He was so well-known and well liked among his colleagues and his customers.

"He started here just before his 20th birthday.

"He was such a quiet lad when he started here but grew in confidence over the years."

The funeral will take place tomorrow at St Mary's Church in Overton at 1.15pm.
