Two men questioned after three injured in dog attack
Two men and a woman were arrested after a woman suffered serious injuries when she was attacked by dogs in a street.
The woman, in her 30s, was today being treated for serious injuries caused by a Staffordshire bull terrier and a bullmastiff.
The attack happened in the Bridge Street area of Leominster on Saturday evening.
Another two women suffered bite injuries during the attack, in which members of the public attempted to restrain the dogs.
One of the animals, the Staffordshire bull terrier, was pulled away from the area and was taken away by police and the bull mastiff died at the scene.
The seriously injured woman was taken by air ambulance to hospital and was today in a stable condition. The natures of her in juries have not been revealed.
Bridget Hirschmann said her son Robert had gone to the woman's aid and used a chair to separate her from the dog. "She was bleeding profusely," Ms Hirschmann said.
"He actually got a chair and got between the dog and the woman who was being mauled. He just talked calmly to the dog and got it off. The attack went on for 15 minutes."
A spokesman for West Mercia Police today said it wanted to reassure members of the public and thank people for their support. Two men, aged 21 and 26, were arrested after the attack.
They were today released following questioning. A 50-year-old woman, who was arrested later, has also been released on police bail.
Steve Parry, spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "Crews responded to a serious incident involving two dogs in Leominster. A woman in her 30s was treated for significant multiple wounds. She was given pain relief by medics before being airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
Alerted
"The hospital was alerted to the serious condition of the patient. Two other women at the scene also received dog bites. They were treated for minor injuries and taken to Hereford Hospital."
