The group will be re-launching on June 11 at 2.30pm and meetings will be held on a monthly basis, run by experienced staff and volunteers.

Sessions will include speakers from a local solicitor for the elderly talking about power of attorney and the British Red Cross talking about the services they offer in north Shropshire.

Other topics will include memory loss, unusual behaviour and communication.

Christine Lloyd-Knight, Alzheimer's Society dementia support worker in Shropshire, said:"Peer support groups can make a huge difference to people living with dementia and their carers. They can provide a sense of wellbeing and give carers an opportunity to share experiences, meet people in a similar situation and form a support network.

"There will also be information available about dementia and local services in the area.

"We are really pleased to be working closely with the staff at Whitchurch hospital and thank them for their support and commitment to supporting people with dementia and their carers."
