Three fire crews from Wellington were called to the scene along with the ambulance service and police.

Watch manager Craig Jackson, from Wellington fire station, said three of the casualties were "walking wounded" but one woman was still trapped in the car when the firefighters arrived.

He said: "We stabilised the vehicle and the paramedic made us aware that he might want the roof removed.

"I asked for more resources but then the paramedic was able to assist the casualty out of the vehicle.

In a further crash a Shrewsbury Road was partially blocked on Sunday morning after a car crash.
