Jobs boost at Telford chilling company
A Telford chilling company has today announced new facilities worth a cool £750,000 - spelling new jobs and further expansion.
CML Fulfilment & Logistics (Telford) Ltd stores and distributes chilled food for Aldi and has seen rapid growth as the supermarket continues to expand.
The Halesfield company will next week unveil new loading facilities and a chill chamber which has enabled it to hold more cold goods to keep pace with Aldi's growth.
The firm, which also has contracts with Lidl, has estimated it will employing another 15 people by the end of the year taking its current workforce from 160 to 175.
And bosses have already been in initial discussions with Telford & Wrekin Council about plans for a new warehouse, as well as extending a current warehouse.
Leading councillors are expected to attend the official opening of the new loading facilities and chilled area on Wednesday.
And the firm has hinted at making further major announcements shortly.
CML's chief executive officer Tim Middleham said: "We pride ourselves on finding logistics solutions for all aspects of our customers' requirements and having the capability to react quickly to a constantly changing environment.
"We have had excellent support and encouragement from the council's business support team and we are delighted to be officially opening our new facilities.
"We were recently approved as a designated Aldi hub and we look forward to more expansion going forward."
Councillor Bill McClements, Telford & Wrekin Council's cabinet member for finance and enterprise, said: "As well as attracting new inward investment, we are passionate about supporting our existing businesses to expand in a challenging environment and CML is a prime example of that.
"It is fantastic to see their success and we have forged an excellent relationship with them over the last few months, which included them attending our Partnership For Jobs Fair in March.
"I am very much looking forward to seeing their facilities and discussing with them how we can work even more closely in the future."
CML moved to a 75,000 sq ft facility on the Brockton Business Park in 2009. They have consistently expanded over the next five years and took a 15 year lease over the whole site.
Their success resulted in the firm refurbishing one of the site's warehouses and turning it into a chilled facility holding just in excess of 4,000 additional chilled pallet spaces.
