The groups will have the chance to perform on the same stage as headliners Lawson at the festival on Saturday, August 30.

Six bands from Telford will compete in the final of the T-Live Bandslam on Friday, June 20 at Oakengates Theatre at The Place.

Solo singer and guitarist Melissa Severn will compete against five bands; Best Before End, The Kooz, Grant Pritchard Trio, Hill Valley High and The Rooz, for the ultimate prize on Friday.

The audience will each vote for their two favourite acts, while each of the five judges will have a vote worth 10 points. The two acts with the most votes on the night will perform 20-minute sets at T-Live in August.

Councillor Shaun Davies, Telford & Wrekin Council's cabinet spokesman for T-Live, said: "All six acts have already proved themselves in the heats and Friday promises to be a great night of top quality local music."

Tickets are £4 or £3.50 with a Telford Loyalty Card from www.theplacetelford.com or on (01952) 382382.
