Hot temperatures lead to Shrewsbury landslip
Hot temperatures and a lack of rain led to a vertical roadside verge falling on to the road and spilling soil, brambles and undergrowth across the carriageway.
The high banked verge, which abuts farmland at Fitz, close to Fitz Manor, Shrewsbury slipped on to the single carriage road at just before 11am.
Shropshire Council workmen attended the incident, which saw tonnes of spoil slip across the road, which serves as a cut through from Bomere Heath to Montford Bridge.
It is unknown how long the road will be closed.
On their Twitter page Shropshire Council posted: "Due to a landslip, the road between Forton Heath and Leaton Lodge at Fitz Bank is currently closed for urgent remedial work. A signed diversion route is in place via Grafton, Yeaton and Walford Heath. The works are expected to be completed today."
