£25,000 BMW stolen after keys taken in Newport burglary
A £25,000 BMW was stolen from the driveway of a Newport home after a car key burglary.
Thieves broke into the house in the Deer Park Drive and Coppice Drive area of the town while the owner was asleep.
They made away with the black BMW M3, valued at £25,000 some time between 1.30am and 7.30am on Tuesday.
Police are appealing for witnesses who saw any suspicious behaviour in the area in the early hours of Tuesday 24 June.
Detective Constable Terry Homer said: "We want to hear from anyone who can help us trace the car and track down those responsible for stealing it.
"Anyone who saw any suspicious activity in that part of Newport or saw the car, registration number YK08 LWF, is urged to contact us immediately."
Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Homer by calling the non emergency number 101 and quoting incident number 092s 240614.
Alternatively information can be passed on anonymously by calling the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or completing its online form by logging on to www.crimestoppers-uk.org
DC Homer added: "I cannot emphasis enough the importance of car owners storing their car keys securely where they cannot be easily accessed. Anything owners can do to make it more difficult for car thieves will help to protect their property."
