Teenager in court on eight charges
A 16-year-old boy has appeared in court charged with eight offences during a hunt in Newtown.
The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, admitted seven charges and denied one charge relating to the incidents in Newtown on June 9 during an appearance at Welshpool Youth Court yesterday.
He admitted a charge of burglary at a house in Lon Maesycoed in which he stole tobacco, a knife and cash.
He also admitted a charge of attempting to steal at Pantry Stores, Trehafren, Newtown; possesing a six inch knife; taking a pedal cycle without consent; taking another cycle without consent; damaging a window without lawful consent; and stealing a cooked chicken from Spar in Broad Street, Newtown.
He denied a charge of burglary at a home in Aberbechan, near Newtown.
He was given conditional bail to appear back at Welshpool Youth Court for a one-day trial on August 20.
