Fairytale figure is giant task for painters at Telford's Wonderland

He's the friendly face of a local legend, and today The Wrekin Giant is enjoying a make-over.

The attraction at Telford's Wonderland is being painted for the first time in a number of years.

And that means a giant headache for those with the job of giving him a lick of paint.

Staff at the attraction have brought in an extra long ladder and a cherry picker.

Artist Martin Bonwick, who has spent 14 years helping to maintain props at the park, used spray paint as he went to task on the giant's hand.

The giant has been a friendly face to thousands of youngsters who visit Wonderland every year.

Set in 170 hectares of woodland, enchanting walks lead you through the world of fairytales.

The giant, complete with a huge shovel, is one of the highlights, but has suffered in recent years in which the region has suffered extreme winters.
