Robbers attack man in Telford as he tries to call police

Robbers attacked a man on a Telford street as he tried to call the police.

The 48-year-old man was followed by two men and three women as he made his way along Market Street and on to Station Hill in Oakengates.

He was then followed on to Church Parade where he entered a phone box on the junction with Corfield Crescent and called the police.

He was attacked by the thieves who left him injured and took off with his mobile phone and wallet in the direction of the nearby Costcutters Shop.

One of the men is described as white, in his early twenties, with black hair, and was wearing a black coat and blue jeans.

The second man is also white, in his late teens or early twenties, 5ft 10ins tall, with short blond hair. He was wearing a green Lonsdale top and grey jogging bottoms.

The incident took place at around 8.45pm on Friday.

Anyone who saw this group or somebody of these descriptions in the area are asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 0743S of Friday 4 July.
