Wonderland picnic in the park

Families will pack a picnic and head for Wonderland tonight as players from a Telford musical theatre group prepare to host a special performances of well-known fairy tales.

The Musical Theatre Production Company, from Newport ,are joining with Wonderland in Telford to host a special picnic in the storybook castle.

After Wonderland closes this afternoon, preparations will be made for it to reopen for an evening of music and dance featuring well known fairy tale characters.

Guests are invited to bring their picnic, blankets and chairs to enjoy the show - and the castle will also be open for refreshments.

People attending the performance will also have full access to the rides and attractions within Wonderland.

Debbie Owen, director of MTPC, said: "We are, hopefully this will be the first of many musical events.

"We hope to collaborate in the future with Wonderland.

"We're really looking forward to it, and the weather looks like it will be fantastic.

"It's such a magical environment to hold this show with the kids, the castle and all the characters."

MTPC is a Newport based company who provide an opportunity for young people to gain experience in singing, dancing and acting skills.

Tickets to Once Upon a Wonderland are £8 and £5 for children.

The show will take place in the castle tonight and tomorrow.
