Arthur Thomas, from Brookfield, Bayston Hill, near Shrewsbury, was charged with dangerous driving on March 30 last year.
But after medical examinations revealed it was likely that Mr Thomas had suffered a small stroke at the wheel, which had led to his erratic driving, the charges were dropped.
The 79-year-old was informed at Shrewsbury Crown Court that no subsequent action would be taken against him.
Mr Hugh O'Brien Quinn, prosecuting, said: "It is likely that he had a stroke at the time of the incident and that's if not certain it is certainly extremely likely.
"As a result I shall offer no evidence in the case."
