In a second blaze, crews spent more than three hours tackling a barn fire near Shifnal.

Five crews from Albrighton were sent to a farm at Tong at 10.49pm last night after a barn containing a large amount of straw caught fire.

A spokesman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We received a call to a fire at a barn on a farm in Tong, near Shifnal. Five appliances were sent from Albrighton.

"Once at the scene the crew found a barn measuring approximately 20m x 5m containing large amounts of straw fully involved in fire.
