Tributes as Shropshire runner dies aged 35
Tributes have been paid to a Shropshire runner who has died of a brain haemorrhage at the age of just 35.
Duncan Strowger died suddenly at home in Newport on Thursday.
Mr Strowger was a popular member of Newport and District Running Club and it is believed he was a teacher.
Members of Newport and District Running Club declined to talk about Mr Strowger until they had spoken to his family.
Tributes have flooded the club's Facebook pages of those of Telford Parkrun, which said running groups in Telford and Wrekin were "sending our deepest condolences and sympathies to Duncan's family at this extremely difficult time".
On the club's Facebook page, Toni Ireland posted: "It is with a heavy heart and deep regret I have been asked by Anne Strowger to let club members know that their lovely son Duncan Strowger passed away very suddenly at home yesterday from a brain haemorrhage.
"Duncan was one of the most easy going, cheerful people I have ever known, a great runner with a very wicked sense of humour.
"God bless Duncan."
Bernie Priekulis, said: "Words just fail you when something like this happens. Duncan still came over to run with us in Stone some Sundays.
"Hell of a likeable guy and gone well before his time. Thoughts go out to his family especially but to all his running mates too."
Lisa Millar said: "Life just isn't fair sometimes. Duncan was one of the good people in this world, as are his mum, dad and sister.
"Duncan made me laugh and was a fine runner so a top guy in my eyes. His early departure from this world will be a huge loss to all who knew him."
Other group followers left their memories of running alongside Mr Strowger.
Kieran Hackett said: "Such sad news. I have fond memories of Duncan - pushing at the front of the group, having mini races mid session and pushing me hard up the hills. He was an instantly likeable gentleman with a great wit. He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him. My thoughts are with Anne and his family."
Members of the Telford Parkrun group paid tribute to an "amazing" person.
Philip Patrick said: "Our thoughts go out to his family at this sad time. Will be remembered for all his hard work in all he achieved in his life."
Jac Cassidy added: "Thoughts and prayers are with friends and family at this sad time. RIP Duncan."
Paul Ross added: "Keep running in heaven young man."
Race results on Newport and District Running Club's website show Mr Strowger completed a 10 km race as part of the group's participation in Gnosall Carnival in Staffordshire on June 23 this year. He finished 18th out of 152 runners, completing the distance in 46 minutes, 32 second.
