Whoops: Lorry driver's U-turn is an epic fail

A lorry driver blocked a busy road into the centre of Shrewsbury today with a failed U-turn.

The lorry sealed off Chester Street in both directions at about 11am.

It is thought the driver saw the low bridge up ahead in Cross Street and tried to back out.

But the reverse mission did not go according to plan and left the massive white lorry blocking both lanes.

Residents looked on in frustration at the latest in a long line of HGV headaches.

And some went to the aid of the driver offering to guide the vehicle out shunt by shunt.

One Chester Street resident who did not wish to be named said: "When are they going to learn?

"We get this all the time. If I had a pound for every lorry that got to the bridge and had to reverse I'd be rich.

"It's forever holding people up on the one way system up into town and that's busy enough as it is."
