Crazy golf contest ditched by council . . . after just one entry
A lack of entries has forced Welshpool Town Council to call off the planned Mid Wales Crazy Golf Championships.
The event had been due to be staged in the town on August Bank Holiday Monday as a qualifier for the World Crazy Golf Championships.
But with only one entry registered the council has cancelled the event which should have gone ahead in Church Street Car Park on August 25.
"We have received only one entry and that was from a champion crazy golfer," said Councillor John Morgan.
"There were also issues with the suppliers of the equipment so the council has therefore taken the step to cancel the event due to lack of support."
An entry fee of £10 per person had been planned and certificates and trophies were to be awarded to the top four along with cash prizes.
