Delivery driver robbed of £150 of pizzas in Telford
A delivery man has resorted to wearing a stab vest after he was robbed at knifepoint of £150 worth of pizzas in Telford.
The driver, 21-year-old Dean Garrett, was approached by a man holding a 10-inch kitchen knife in Bishopdale, Brookside.
The man threatened Mr Garrett, who was working for Domino's Pizza in Oakengates, and escaped with a number of pizzas at 2.45am on Sunday.
Mr Garrett said the incident has left him shaken and has since been wary when delivering at night.
He said: "I wear a stab vest now, it was really frightening.
"I drove to the road, and I knew where the house was, so I got out the car to go over and ring the doorbell.
"I was walking towards an alleyway when a man came right in front of me and another one behind me telling me to give them the pizzas.
"As soon as I realised he had a knife I told him to take them – I wasn't risking my life for some pizzas.
"It was a big 10 inch kitchen knife. It's the first time something like that has happened to me in two years of working here."
Bosses later realised it was a false order as it was made to an address where an elderly man lived.
A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: "We are appealing for information."
A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the incident and bailed pending further enquiries.
Anyone with information is urged to contact West Mercia Police on the non-emergency 101 number.
