Children take centre stage at Culmington Show
Children took centre stage at a village show with their Lego creations, cookery skills and colouring pieces displayed for visitors to see.
The Culmington Flower and Produce Show, near Craven Arms, was a great success with 50 per cent more entrants than last year.
And with about 15 children also taking part, the show saw entrants into all sorts of classes, including flower and vegetable produce, as well as hand-written poems by children.
Show secretary Janet Stewart said: "It was very successful this year. We had the addition of the new class which was homemade liquor, and all sorts of things were entered.
"We had nine entrants for that class, which we were really pleased with as a new class.
"There were 63 entrants this year, and there were so many enthusiastic children which was lovely to see."
With youngsters between two and 13 taking part, organisers were thrilled to see interest from children so young.
Dr Stewart said: "It's lovely to see, and if they are enjoying it when they're three, then hopefully they will still be interested when they are a lot older.
"It's one of the highlights for me, seeing the children get so excited when they win something, for them it really is 'wow'.
"Another highlight was the liquor class, it was really lovely to see so many people get involved."
And just because the show is over, that doesn't mean organisers have finished their work.
Dr Stewart said: "We'll be having a meeting next week to see what we can take for next year.
"I think we'll be looking into more classes for children now and hopefully we can just keep it being successful and running as well as it did this year."
