But nearby residents have raised objections to the ambitious plans for the Brogyntyn estate on the outskirts of Oswestry.

Developers say their plans are the only way the future of the estate's hall, once the home of the Harlech family, can be safeguarded. Members of Selattyn and Gobowen Parish Council have given their blessing to the plans and have told Shropshire Council approval should be given.

But 10 residents have lodged objections.

In her letter to Shropshire Council, Andrea McLachlan said: "The extra traffic generated on the main B4580 will be unacceptable in safety terms. The new access road planned passes through the conservation area and will desecrate the peaceful and beautiful surroundings."
