Amy Hughes, 26, of West Felton near Oswestry, has set out to run 53 marathons in 53 days – a total of 1,400 miles.

If she completes all 53 she will be the overall record holder for consecutive marathon running. And now with 15 26.2-mile runs under her belt, Amy has already broken the record for the most consecutive marathons run by a female.

She began her challenge in Chester and has since pounded the streets of Liverpool, Preston, Lancaster, Carlisle, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Sunderland, Durham, York, Hull, Wakefield and Leeds.

The sports therapist's challenge has attracted interest from none other than Olympic gold medallist, Dame Kelly Holmes, who tweeted Amy's internet post about her 12th marathon equalling the record for women.

Amy has already raised more than £5,600 for The Isabelle Lottie Foundation.
