Ghost squad seeking sightings of Newport's tragic wandering spirit
She's an entity that's haunted Newport for centuries and now a local ghost-investigation team is calling for help from the public in their search for the infamous Madam Pigott.
The West Midlands Ghost Club wants any reported sightings to be brought to their attention along with any evidence of ghostly activity in the area.
Nick Duffy, proud member of the WMGC, said "I've seen many, alleged paranormal photographs over the years, but this one does hit all of the right notes where I'm concerned. Basically, in a non-psychic sense it just 'feels' right," he added.
Madam Pigott is said to dwell in the surroundings of the A41 between Newport and Market Drayton. She has been photographed previously at Chetwynd Church where she can be seen glowing, wearing a white dress and holding a baby.

The WMGC plan to re-visit the A41 area in hope of catching another glimpse of her within the next few weeks, but are looking for more members of their search party before finalising a date.
The apparition's personal history is a perfect ghost story. She was the wife of Squire Pigott and lived with him at the Chetwynd Park Estate. However, her life began to fall apart as her not-so-faithful husband left her to tend to the estate alone while he took extended business trips to meet other women.
The loneliness left her frail and weak, so when she fell pregnant she was in no state to deliver.
During the difficult birth, Squire Pigott was asked to choose between saving the life of his adoring wife, or that of his newborn child. He of course chose to live without his wife, explaining he would save his child by "lopping the root to save the branch."
In a cruel twist of fate, or more likely karma for the squire, the child also passed away along with its mother.
For centuries, the pained spirit of Madam Pigott has wandered the A41 area, holding her child close.
