Mugger punches woman in the face in £100 Telford handbag snatch

A woman was punched in the face before a thief made off with her handbag during a robbery in Telford.

It happened in James Way, Donnington, and West Mercia Police are today appealing for witnesses.

The 45-year-old victim was walking home at about 11.55am last Friday along a pedestrian alley leading from James Way to Furnace Lane. A man walked towards her and punched her in the face, causing her to fall to the ground. The man grabbed her handbag and ran off with it in the direction of James Way.

The victim was left with minor injuries. Her handbag contained more than £100 cash.

The offender is described as white and of a tall and skinny build. He was thought to be wearing a grey hooded top and black tracksuit bottoms.
