Shropshire man, 28, admits to five child rapes

A 28-year-old Shropshire man has admitted raping and sexually assaulting a child.

Gary Archer, of Clifford Road, Market Drayton, pleaded guilty to five charges of raping a child under the age of 13 and two counts of sexually assaulting a child under the age of 13 when he appeared at Shrewsbury Crown Court yesterday.

The victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was attacked between July 2012 and April 2014, the court heard.

Judge Peter Barrie adjourned the case for the probation service to carry out a pre-sentence report.

Archer was remanded in custody to appear back at Shrewsbury on the week beginning September 15 for sentencing.
