Council in talks on £17m flyover bid for main Shropshire road
A £17 million flyover could be built linking a town's business park with one of Shropshire's busiest trunk roads.
Talks are taking place between Shropshire Council and Network Rail about creating a flyover across the railway line in Craven Arms. A new roundabout would be built off the A49 at the junction with Long Lane and the flyover would cross the line to reach Craven Arms Business Park.
The development would be a boost to the town's economy, a councillor has claimed.
But in order for the project to happen it would need investment from private businesses – and soon.
David Evans, Shropshire councillor for Craven Arms and Church Stretton, said: "We're only going to get one bite of the cherry with this. If it doesn't happen now, it could be 20 years before it is talked about again."
