A new self-styled "pop, rock and jazz" community choir for men and women, called Sing4Fun, will take place on Thursdays, at Burton Borough School in Audley Avenue.

The first session will be held on Thursday, September 11, at the school from 7.45pm until 9.30pm.

It is aimed at encouraging people to sing popular songs together and develop their singing skills and no previous experience is required. It is hoped the group will eventually perform in front of audiences.

Sing4Fun is being started by ex-Burton Borough pupil Dale Kynaston. Over the last 20 years, Dale has become known as a singer, teacher and compere. He has won three British Gold Medals for his singing and has represented the UK five times at international contests in the USA and Canada. The former Church Aston resident has also directed an award winning a capella choir for nearly 20 years.

He said: "We will start with some fun rounds and small songs, then move on to many popular songs. This is a community choir and we want to make it a social experience for everyone, so families and friends are all welcome."
