The comedian has already sold out the venue next Friday, and has now added a second, late-night show.

Both performances, at 7.30pm and 10.30pm, will be filmed and edited together for the new DVD.

David Jack, Theatre Severn's venue and programme manager, said it was a "real coup" as Mr Davidson had 54 venues to choose from as part of his No Further Action tour.

"We're delighted to be chosen as the venue for filming," he added.

He said Mr Davidson visited the theatre a few months ago for a tour pre-production meeting and that prompted his decision to film the DVD there.

"We think he was quite fond of Theatre Severn," said Mr Jack.

"He was very charming. A lovely man."

Mr Davidson's first performance has already sold out, and only 100 tickets remain available for the late-night show, which is expected to finish at around 12.30am.

Mr Davidson last visited Shropshire in the summer when he played the Ludlow Arts Festival.
