Large sign to fishy for Shrewsbury councillors
A plan for a large scale illuminated screen to perch above a shop in Shrewsbury town centre proved too fishy for councillors.
The five metre by eight metre print of 10 fish to go above the Sony Centre in Castle Street left members of Shrewsbury Town Council's planning committee floundering.
The councillors dissolved into laughter as they pooled their thoughts on what the plaice was going to be - with ideas ranging from a sushi bar to an aquarium.
But they had all picked red herrings as a drawing revealed the shop was to be called Taps Bathroom Supplies.
The idea of the illuminated screen was being floated by Boys & Boden building and plumbing supplies based in Welshpool.
But the plan did not slip through the net as members decided it was not in keeping with the conservation area.
