North Shropshire pub wins place in Good Food Guide
Chefs have been cooking up the goods and it hasn't gone unnoticed as one Shropshire pub picks up a foody award.
The appointment of a new head chef at The Inn at Grinshill, near Wem could have been just the ingredient for creating the perfect pub, as it is awarded a place in the Waitrose Good Food Guide for the second year.
And head chef Paul Maders said his team has been working hard with the "ethos of bringing fine food to everyone."
He said: "Although we are never chasing accolades, it is always good to have someone as independent as the Good Food Guide to vindicate the hard work and effort put in by the team.
"It is always the customer first. This with the fact that probably 98 per cent of everything that comes from the kitchen is made in the kitchen and that the seasonality of the food is paramount.
"I am delighted for everyone - awards like this are about as independent as they get.
"The anonymity of their inspectors is legendary so the utmost confidence can be held with their views."
And the team are now hoping the place in the guide will bring in new customers as well as encourage regulars to keep coming in as they continue to improve.
And after a period of financial difficulty towards the end of 2012, owners Kevin and Viki Brazier are delighted with the work of the kitchen team.
Mrs Brazier said: "We are absolutely thrilled. We're full of optimism for the future of The Inn, which is now on a secure financial footing, and are excited about other ideas we're introducing.
"We have always been lucky to have excellent chefs, each chef brings their own creativity.
"Paul joined us just at the right time. He has brought not only stability but a relaxed no nonsense approach. His dishes are lovely combinations of fresh ingredients with creative flavours."
The 2015 edition of the Good Food Guide will be published on September 8.
