Telford's Mickey Bushell considered for civic honour
Paralympian Mickey Bushell could soon become the honorary freeman of the borough of Telford & Wrekin.
The sportsman, who took gold at the London 2012 Paralympics in the 100m sprint, has been recommended for the role as "a person of distinction" and who has "rendered eminent service" to the area.
Councillors will make their decision at a meeting on Thursday and could pass a resolution to admit Mr Bushell as the honorary freeman as long as two thirds of members vote in favour.
After adding IPC Athletics European Championship gold to his glittering medal collection last month, the 24-year-old is now working towards defending his crown at Rio 2016 before racing in the 400m and 800m at Tokyo 2020. He recently split from his long-term coach Fred Periac and switched to Jenny Archers.
Councillors will meet at The Haybridge Restaurant in Wellington from 6.15pm.
