Model Kate Moss's gift bags cash for Shropshire care home
It used to belong to supermodel Kate Moss but now, this red handbag has raised £240 for a Shropshire care home.
The bag was one of a number of items going under the hammer at at Hendra House in Ludlow alongside an Arsenal football shirt signed by manager Arsene Wenger.
This year's fete at the home raised £2,537.77 for the residents' comfort fund – an increase of more than £450 on last year's event.
Despite its high-profile previous owner, the Longchamps bag designed by the model was not the biggest lot.
The top lot at the auction turned out to be the signed shirt, which raised £255, closely followed by the bag.
Home owner Vince Burmingham said "The amount raised exceed our wildest dreams."
He praised the hard work of the homes staff and the residents families in staging the event, adding: "We were privileged to have received such a diverse range of items for the auction and would like to thank everyone who contributed especially businesses in the local community".
It has become a tradition for Kate Moss to give something to be auctioned off at the home's annual fete. Last year another handbag fetched £260 for the home, while the auction raised more than £2,000 for the residents' comfort fund.
Hendra House has now been holding its annual fate for 13 years and half of its events have seen a contribution by Kate Moss.
Other prizes that went under the hammer this year included a stable tour and morning on the gallops, with breakfast for four people, at the Cotswold stables of Kim Bailey, a top National Hunt trainer.
Not keen to sit on their laurels, the home will soon be starting the planning of next year's event.
