Taste of Mexico as Chimichanga restaurant to open at Southwater
Mexican restaurant chain Chimichanga is to open its new restaurant in Telford on October 1, creating 20 new jobs.
The restaurant, which will be based in Southwater Square, has cost £500,000 to develop. The outlet will be one of three which will be opened by the Prezzo group in the second half of the year.
There will be seating for 174 diners – 114 in the restaurant itself and a further 60 outside - and the restaurant will be managed by Kriszti Nunes
It comes after Prezzo Group, which also has an Italian restaurant in Oswestry, announced half-year sales had increased by 16 per cent to £92.4 million, with pre-tax profit also 16 per cent higher at £9.8 million.
The chain now includes 245 restaurants, with the Telford opening joining others in the group in Newcastle and Newquay in bringing the total number of new additions to the group to 25 for the current financial year.
"Our sales growth in the first quarter of the year was exceptionally strong," said chairman Michael Carlton.
"While we have continued to deliver good and steady growth in subsequent months, the overall rate of growth has moderated in the second quarter and beyond.
"Nevertheless, with a strong set of new openings thus far in 2014, we remain confident of delivering a satisfactory outcome for 2014 as a whole."
