Man wanted over savage burglary arrested in Leominster
A man wanted in connection with a savage burglary of an academic in his home has appeared in court after being arrested in Leominster, police have said.
Oskar Pawlowichz, 29, was remanded in custody after he appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court charged with aggravated burglary and grievous bodily harm with intent, Scotland Yard said.
Pawlowichz, of no fixed abode, was arrested in the Herefordshire town on Tuesday.
Paul Kohler, a lecturer at London's School of African and Oriental Studies, was left with "life-changing injuries" after four balaclava-clad men burst into his home in Wimbledon, south-west London, at around 10pm on August 11 and beat him, demanding money.
He has since undergone surgery for a fractured eye socket and also suffered multiple facial injuries and extensive bruising to his body and limbs.
Mr Kohler's wife was also threatened by two of the intruders, who tried to tape her to a chair during the raid.
Two men have already been charged in relation to the burglary. Mariusz Tomaszewski, 32, of Pitcairn Road, Tooting, and Pawel Honc, 23, of no fixed abode, have both appeared in court charged with aggravated burglary and grievous bodily harm.
They were remanded into custody to appear at Kingston Crown Court on a date to be confirmed.
A third man arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary has since been bailed pending further enquiries.
