Fire crews battle three fires and rescue pensioner from lift

Firefighters were kept busy today as they responded to three property fires and rescued a pensioner from a lift.

Three appliances from Ellesmere and Oswestry were sent to a house in Henlle, Gobowen.

An Aga had caught fire on Saturday, at 12.20pm, and fire crews used a C02 extinguisher, dry powder and a positive pressure fan to bring the flames under control.

Fire broke in living room of two-storey property involving log burner in Racecourse Drive, Shrewsbury.

Two appliances from Shrewsbury used breathing apparatus, jets and thermal imaging at 11.50pm on Friday night.

A third fire involving a washing machine broke out in an outbuilding in Church Lane, Shawbury, at 9.30pm.

Two appliances were mobilised from Shrewsbury and took half an hour to put the fire out on Friday evening.

A Renault Clio was also on fire along the hard shoulder of the M54 on Friday night.

Firefighters used a hose reel jet to damp down the car down at 11pm, between junctions three and four.

Meanwhile, an 80-year-old had to be rescued from a lift after getting stuck.

Firefighters were called to Love Lane, in Wem, on Saturday, at 3pm.

No one was injured.
