Telford MoD worker could face jail after kicking - and breaking - another woman's leg
A Ministry of Defence worker has been warned she could face more than two years in jail after kicking another woman so hard she broke her leg.
Rebecca Patricia Allen, of Furnace Lane, Trench, Telford, had initially denied causing grievous bodily harm with intent to Abby Brown.
But the 37-year-old admitted an alternate charge of causing grievous bodily harm before the her trial was due to start at Shrewsbury Crown Court yesterday.(TUES) Judge Peter Barrie said the maximum sentence Allen could receive would be of two years and three months in prison.
However, he said it could be less than that depending on the results of reports which the Probation Service has been asked to prepare.
"Miss Allen says she was so effected by drink that she can't remember what happened," he said.
Mr Simon Phillips, for Allen, said she had no memory of the assault, which took place on October 11 last year.
"Both ladies had been drinking and that lead to an argument," Mr Phillips said.
"This lady is a professional lady who works for the Ministry of Defence and was formerly a social worker. She has had some issues in her life which have perhaps less to get being in this situation."
The case was adjourned for sentencing until the week of November 10 at Wolverhampton Crown Court.
Allen was granted bail on the condition not to contact the victim.
