Violence broke out among a group of about 30 men in the car park of the Bridge Builder pub on the Wrekin Retail Park in Telford on November 9 last year, Shrewsbury Crown Court heard.

The brawl, which was captured on CCTV, happened shortly after 2.30pm, just before AFC Telford United's match against Stalybridge Celtic.

The fight was arranged by 19-year-old Mark Luscott, of Burlington Close, Dawley, who had been in contact with a Stalybridge fan. He was before the court alongside Jamie Titley, Daniel Thompson and Ashley Hart, all aged 18.

All four pleaded guilty to a single charge of affray. Laura Culley, prosecuting, said: "Stalybridge fans were bussed over before the match and were in the pub beforehand. The CCTV footage then shows a group of Telford fans approaching them from the car park. Titley is then seen throwing the first punch and the violence starts from there. The pub manager said she saw people being punched and kicked.

"Also she had to dodge a glass being thrown and saw a bin picked up and thrown. Families and children were present in the pub at the time."

The court heard the fight lasted a total of three minutes and resulted in one man sustaining a broken jaw.

Yesterday Luscott was sentenced to six months in a young offenders' institute and given a six-year football banning order.

Jamie Titley, of Synders Way, Lawley, Telford, was handed a three-month sentence in a young offenders' institute, suspended for 12 months, ordered to complete 200 hours' unpaid work and given a six-year football banning order.

Daniel Thompson, of Hutchinson Way, Ketley, and Ashley Hart, of School Road, Donnington, were given separate three-year football banning orders, a 12-month community order and told to complete 180 hours of unpaid work.
