The 55-year-old man was assaulted by another man outside the Royal Oak Hotel in Leominster. He sustained "significant" facial and back injuries, police say.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses of the attack, which happened sometime between 1pm and 2pm on October 18, to come forward.

The attack happened to the rear of the hotel in South Street. Police say people on neighbouring Etnam Street would have been able to see the area.

Constable Adele Loney, the investigating officer, said: "There were several members of the public who witnessed this assault.

"I urge them to come forward with information to help us with our inquiries."

Anyone with information is urged to call police on the non-emergency 101 number.
